The Best Connection currently have an exciting opportunity for ongoing work. We are currently seeking a Yard Operative for a successful and busy Roofing & Building supply company in Walthamstow. This is for an immediate start.


Responsibilities of the General Yard Operative:

Reports directly to the Site Supervisors
Identify materials requirements by speaking with operatives and deliver materials to work bays.
To ensure productivity is maximised by reading production plans that outlines orders in which units will be worked upon and ensuring the associated work-bay has all the required materials.
Working as part of a team in a roofing and building merchants depot
You will be required to engage with customers, taking orders, dealing with queries and providing assistance both over the counter and by phone.
Liaise with the Storeman with any other ad-hoc tasks.
Maintain a tidy keeping of tools & equipment.
To work in a safe and sensible manner within the boundaries of the Company Health and Safety Policy and any additional site restrictions.
General housekeeping of the yard & storeroom.
Requirements of a General Yard Operative:

Attention to detail.
Good communication skills
The ability to adapt to changing working conditions
Knowledge of materials, tools, workshop operations.
Experience of working autonomously
Basic understanding and acceptance of Health & Safety rules.
Good numeracy skills.
Good accuracy and organisational skills.
Has a proactive approach
Ability to work to target.
PC literate.
Heavy lifting.
Pay rate and shift

Monday to Friday 06:30am - 15:00pm
Saturdays 7am to 11am ( working 1 in 3)
£11.44ph
